I came to the horizon of the holiday;
And in its theme of spirit and celebration--
I looked to replenish a tired heart.
And although the talk of the commercialization of the days voiding the meaning of the days
fell on my deaf ears—for what goes on, goes on--
and I do not listen easily to those who would tell me what should offend my senses--
still, I did not find the baptism I looked for in the wonderful lights and sounds.
But they were beautiful, and soothed and fed and intrigued my Soul.
I looked out on the horizon of the holiday
and saw countless, brave acts of Love and Kindness and Hope.
And in their example of determination and acceptance and gratitude--
there was a transcendence.
It was there I found my renewal.
