Lady Penelope Samseen lived a gentle but busy life at the court of the local gentry.
When she was a baby, a traveling Seeress had looked at her and declared that the child would grow a fabulous mane of hair, and that it would be the source of a charmed and talented existence.
Penelope came from a common, hard-working family. She developed into a bright, resourceful, strong and kind young lady and secured her coveted position. She often heard the story of the prophecy of her enchanted shock.
The reality of it became a part of who she was.
One day, in a bizarre blow-drying accident, Penelope's tresses were damaged and reduced down to a short, spiky coiffure.
Although she looked rather smart and stylish in her new vibrissa, she was horrified.
"How will I fulfill my duties and live my life without my power?" she wondered frantically.
She gathered her courage and did the best she could as she waited for her hair to grow back, hoping to survive until her luxurious frame and its blessings reappeared.
And as she worked with quiet but nervous determination and hope, anticipating the return of the magical origin of her good life--
she was bright, resourceful, strong and kind.
