a few things for my niece and nephew and the necklace my sister had wanted for so long.
It wasn't that much stuff but I was happy and grateful to have it.
They're my only family and they mean everything to me.
The bus left me off at the corner of the park that's my little piece of the world and a five minute walk to my apartment. It was quiet this time of night. The street lamps lit up a hazy arc against the black sky.
I walked along the perimeter of grass that led to the entrance area of home, sweet home. I looked up to take in a few more moments of nighttime before heading in—and there, looming large, silent and close were two dark but unmistakable disks in the sky. They weaved around each other in what seemed a playful, free-form pattern and then stopped cold—facing each other in a tilt.
I was stunned, nearly immobile. And yet this was not the first time that I had seen flying objects that clearly, unequivocally, were not "earthly." It had been happening to me for some years now.
I didn't talk to anyone about it anymore; there wasn't much point.
I had seen a lot of variations of shapes and light, and sometimes they were sky drawing symbols that seemed to me were trying to tell me something; I was never sure what.
I stood there, locked into the sight of them. Suddenly they burst into bright, dazzling color. Was anyone else seeing this? I half-glanced around but couldn't really tell if anyone was there. But then I heard a car over in the lot nearby fire up and immediately screech off.
Orbs of light began to stream between the two objects. They seemed to form a pulsing, sparkling connection of the two disks—as if they were sharing power.
And then in the wisp of a moment, they were gone.
I shook myself loose, trying to recover my senses. I took a more thorough look around this time, to see if anyone else was there, if anyone else had witnessed. The night seemed vacant.
With numb steps I made my way inside. This had been the most intense phenomenon that I had experienced yet. I sat down at the kitchen table with a glass of water and sipped. I gave in to one of my occasional cigarettes.
My mind touched upon a million things. Recently I had heard about the idea that aliens were guiding and abetting the processes of global warming to change the planet into an ideal environment for them—sending us up into puffs of smoke along the way, I guess.
And also the theory that they may be tapping our sun for fuel. Even though it seemed to me that any beings that were basically traversing dimensions had mastered limitless energy. Would they drain away our life force or fry us? Would they need to? But then, who knows? Maybe.
Frightening, disturbing ideas.
Of course with ease, I vividly recalled the images that I had just seen--
the orbs of light, the sharing of power.
I fell asleep with my head down on the table, wondering about possible messages.
