In this ripple of space and time
stood a unique version of the dwelling place of Wakinyan Tanka.
"I am in a strange part of the The Badlands now," thought he who was called Red Cloud--
for this sacred home of The Thunderer had been captured by Unktehi--
who swayed in the shadows, waiting.
There was a sweet smell in the air. Even Red Cloud wondered if this bode good or ill.
Still, he was unafraid. Partly because of his brave heart
and partly because of the talisman he held in his pocket--
a simple, round piece of wood, etched with two crossed lines into four sections.
"The Great Spirit's Will be done," whispered Makhpia Sha,
as he came face to face
with The Water Serpent.
