I sat down and told him about an interesting interview I had just watched.
This expert was saying that, of course, men and women want to communicate
and understand each other for the most part.
But they are on two different frequencies.
"Yes, we should do that," he replied, not really looking up from the paper.
I continued by saying that apparently men talk to solve problems and preserve independence
and women talk to develop intimacy.
"Sounds good, darling," he answered, glancing over and giving me a quick but warm smile.
"Wherever you want to go will be fine," he said.
I informed him that the expert explained that just being aware of this fundamental difference
in perspective can be helpful in understanding each other.
My beloved suddenly stood up and stated just a bit heatedly,
"A goal line situation and you're not running play-action?! Really?! Really?!
Oh, sorry sweetheart. You see about the reservation and I'll go grab a shower and get ready."
