Everything was ready for my party--
decorations, food, my Captain Jack costume—I was all set.
The doorbell rang; I opened it in happy anticipation.
There stood a Child of the Wicca.
I jumped back, frightened to death.
"Hi!" she said brightly,
"I'm here for the party! I brought a pumpkin! His name is Samhain!"
"But you're a scary monster!" I stammered,
"A figure of the night, a minion of the supernatural, a handmaiden of the occult!
My party is for regular people who are just pretending to be those things!"
"Well then, I could add a note of authenticity!" she replied.
"After all," she continued,
"all saints, all sinners, all of us in-between. Right?"
I realized she had a point; it was Halloween!
I invited her in for cake and I scream.
