The very first time I saw her and looked into her eyes, I surrendered.
It was more like I was surrendered by some force I couldn't see--
handed over like like a docile sacrifice.
Hey, I thought, I'm not docile! I refuse to just buckle like that!
"Hello," she said.
What did she mean by that?!, I asked myself. What is she up to?
"How are you?" she inquired sweetly.
I squared my stance, braced my heart and looked even deeper into her eyes.
I'm on to you, lady!, I screamed internally. You're not fooling me!!
The eyes are the windows to the Soul, I'd heard.
I would peer into hers and find out exactly what she was about.
I didn't realize that I would soon discover that her eyes were windows--
into my Soul.
